About

Currently I am snuggled into the heart of the mid-Atlantic on an island in the Chesapeake Bay.

I recently completed graduate school where I am worked on developing sustainable aquaculture methods for a saltmarsh killifish, Fundulus heteroclitus - the mummichog.

In my professional life I am involved with AFS and WAS/USAS and affiliated with PSA. I am a marine biologist, an ecologist, and a firm supporter of that marine resources can be sustainable - particularly through habitat management, restoration, and aquaculture. Underneath it all, I have a passion for all things seaweed.

On my creative side, I illustrate, create, design, and am a published photographer.  Many of my seaweed photographs have been published worldwide in textbooks, coffee table books, magazines, field guides, and other various media in addition to being displayed in museums, shows, and fairs.

Check out my Flickr to see what I'm shooting.
Poke on over at Ravelry to see what's on my hook/needles.
Follow me on Pinterest to see what I'm pinning.

Until I can separate the two parts of me (which will likely never happen) this will contain both nerdy marine stuff, crafty endeavors, family projects, and lots and lots of pictures.
